Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Iron & Steel and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Precision (TW:3016), which rose 9.98% or 2.00 points to trade at 22.05 at the close. Green Energy (TW:3519) added 6.97% or 1.40 points to end at 21.50 and Everspring Ind (TW:2390) was up 6.44% or 1.30 points to 21.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Candmark (TW:5259), which lost 9.57% or 0.18 points to trade at 1.70 in late trade. Microtek Intl (TW:2305) declined 9.18% or 0.84 points to end at 8.31 and Realtek (TW:2379) shed 6.72% or 6.30 points to 87.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 429 to 308 and 111 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.67% or 0.32 to $47.76 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.89% or 0.43 to hit $47.92 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.57% or 7.15 to trade at $1244.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.10% to 32.687, while TWD/CNY fell 0.10% to 0.2006.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 95.29.
