Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Public Utilities and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 3.05%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which rose 2.74% or 1.49 points to trade at 55.89 at the close. Meanwhile, BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) added 2.73% or 1.53 points to end at 57.55 and Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) was up 2.59% or 0.05 points to 1.98 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3), which fell 7.56% or 0.79 points to trade at 9.66 at the close. Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR4) declined 7.06% or 0.60 points to end at 7.90 and Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3) was down 6.51% or 1.21 points to 17.39.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 176 to 132 and 5 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 6.25% to 42.66.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.34% or 3.60 to $1070.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.30% or 0.13 to hit $43.00 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 0.74% or 0.93 to trade at $125.70 .
USD/BRL was up 1.13% to 3.7432, while EUR/BRL rose 0.89% to 3.9728.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 99.84.
