BeInCrypto - Music streaming platform Spotify has removed over 10,000 artificial intelligence-generated (AI) songs in a bid to tackle the growing problem of “artificial streaming.“

AI has marked its footprint in various domains, such as writing, art, design, and coding. Now the music streaming platform Spotify is battling artificial streaming, where bots are used to manipulate listener data.

Spotify Cracks Down on AI Songs

According to the Financial Times, Spotify deleted over 10,000 songs from Boomy, a service that allowed the creation of generative music with AI technology. The platform took these measures to avoid artificial streaming.

Music market leader Universal Music Group (AS:UMG) informed streaming platforms such as Spotify about suspicious streaming activities on Boomy tracks.

Michael Nash, the Chief Digital Officer at UMG, says, “We are always encouraged when we see our partners exercise vigilance around the monitoring of activity on their platforms.”

Growing AI Concern

Last month, UMG asked Spotify to remove AI-generated songs built from their copyrighted music. This was done because AI is now able to generate unique songs that sound like popular artists.

BeInCrypto reported that a YouTube channel, 20syl, uploaded a video called “AllttA – Savages,” where the artists rap alongside the American rapper Jay-Z.

However, Jay-Z did not collaborate with the artist, rather the creators used AI to generate a similar voice.
