Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Durables, Banking and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.06%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN), which rose 2.97% or 2.65 points to trade at 91.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Cairn India Limited (NS:CAIL) added 2.44% or 3.30 points to end at 138.65 and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) was up 1.84% or 6.10 points to 338.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which fell 1.98% or 8.30 points to trade at 410.75 at the close. ICICI Bank Ltd . (NS:ICBK) declined 1.49% or 3.90 points to end at 257.95 and Punjab National Bank (NS:PNBK) was down 0.99% or 1.20 points to 120.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 2.97% to 91.90, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was up 1.97% to settle at 338.70 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which gained 1.37% to close at 85.10.
The worst performers were ICICI Bank Ltd. (BO:ICBK) which was down 1.53% to 257.80 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which lost 0.88% to settle at 4594.40 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 0.62% to 233.95 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 822 to 642 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 429 rose and 354 declined, while 9 ended unchanged.
Shares in Punjab National Bank (NS:PNBK) fell to 52-week lows; losing 0.99% or 1.20 to 120.10.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.68% to 13.7450.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.27% or 2.90 to $1071.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.31% or 0.12 to hit $37.62 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.24% or 0.09 to trade at $37.27 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.01% to 66.030, while EUR/INR rose 0.49% to 72.4070.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.38% at 98.00.
