Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.14%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Kering SA (PA:PRTP), which rose 7.75% or 14.60 points to trade at 203.00 at the close. Airbus Group (PA:AIR) added 3.76% or 2.01 points to end at 55.40 and Nokia Oyj (PA:NOKIA) was up 3.17% or 0.144 points to 4.680 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP), which lost 7.28% or 6.02 points to trade at 76.62 in late trade. Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) declined 3.03% or 6.95 points to end at 222.70 and Klepierre (PA:LOIM) shed 2.80% or 1.10 points to 38.12.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Kering SA (PA:PRTP) which rose 7.75% to 203.00, Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which was up 3.81% to settle at 10.36 and Airbus Group (PA:AIR) which gained 3.76% to close at 55.40.
The worst performers were Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP) which was down 7.28% to 76.62 in late trade, Genfit (PA:GNFT) which lost 3.91% to settle at 17.315 and Nexans (PA:NEXS) which was down 3.74% to 52.75 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 377 to 289 and 108 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.69% to 17.95.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.40% or 5.05 to $1268.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.18% or 0.59 to hit $49.37 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.46% or 0.74 to trade at $50.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.24% to 1.0915, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8925.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 98.57.
