Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Rubber, Plastic and Cement sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Action Eltr (TW:3024), which rose 9.87% or 0.660 points to trade at 7.350 at the close. Powertech (TW:3296) added 9.66% or 1.15 points to end at 13.05 and Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348) was up 6.63% or 1.30 points to 20.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shin Zu Shing (TW:3376), which lost 6.02% or 6.50 points to trade at 101.50 in late trade. Epileds Tech (TW:4956) declined 5.69% or 1.40 points to end at 23.20 and Crowell (TW:2528) shed 4.94% or 0.34 points to 6.54.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 504 to 237 and 124 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.16% or 0.08 to $49.64 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.12% or 0.06 to hit $50.41 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.02% or 0.25 to trade at $1269.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.09% to 31.660, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2137.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 98.86.
