Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN), which rose 6.56% or 0.040 points to trade at 0.650 at the close. Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) added 2.35% or 0.020 points to end at 0.850 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) was up 0.87% or 0.010 points to 1.120 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which lost 5.00% or 0.92 points to trade at 17.48 in late trade. Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) declined 2.09% or 0.08 points to end at 3.65 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) shed 0.96% or 0.06 points to 6.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 13 to 13 and 61 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.18% or 0.09 to $50.72 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.60% or 0.31 to hit $51.69 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.04% or 0.50 to trade at $1267.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.28% to 345.080, while USD/NGN rose 0.16% to 317.000.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.44% at 98.72.
