Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Banco Popular (MC:POP), which rose 3.83% or 0.048 points to trade at 1.300 at the close. Repsol (MC:REP) added 2.29% or 0.270 points to end at 12.075 and Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) was up 2.14% or 0.107 points to 5.117 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Int.Airl.Grp (MC:ICAG), which lost 3.36% or 0.169 points to trade at 4.865 in late trade. Amadeus IT (MC:AMA) declined 1.72% or 0.690 points to end at 39.385 and Gamesa (MC:GAM) shed 1.38% or 0.255 points to 18.200.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 97 to 87 and 29 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.90% or 11.85 to $1331.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.84% or 0.84 to hit $44.91 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.67% or 0.79 to trade at $46.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1010, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8336.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 97.03.
