Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL), which rose 10.25% or 29.72 points to trade at 304.50 at the close. Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) added 9.23% or 4.11 points to end at 48.70 and Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) was up 4.14% or 1.99 points to 50.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which lost 4.76% or 0.03 points to trade at 0.60 in late trade. Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) declined 3.28% or 0.020 points to end at 0.590 and Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) shed 1.68% or 0.06 points to 3.51.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 18 to 15 and 54 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 1.55% or 0.76 to $49.94 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 1.58% or 0.79 to hit $50.77 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.18% or 2.25 to trade at $1268.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.22% to 347.530, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 316.500.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.39% at 98.97.
