Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Consumer Services and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.08% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which rose 3.11% or 1.24 points to trade at 41.16 at the close. Ageas (BR:AGES) added 1.24% or 0.480 points to end at 39.180 and Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB) was up 0.87% or 0.68 points to 79.24 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 1.95% or 1.200 points to trade at 60.280 in late trade. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 1.76% or 1.11 points to end at 62.00 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) shed 1.37% or 0.39 points to 27.66.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 62 to 52 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.27% or 3.25 to $1212.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.38% or 0.73 to hit $53.48 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.89% or 0.49 to trade at $55.72 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.0754, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8581.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 100.06.
