Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Utilities and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which rose 1.74% or 0.71 points to trade at 41.75 at the close. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) added 0.98% or 0.41 points to end at 42.13 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was up 0.69% or 0.35 points to 50.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which lost 2.11% or 0.59 points to trade at 27.64 in late trade. Elia (BR:ELI) declined 1.11% or 0.535 points to end at 47.855 and Proximus NV (BR:PROX) shed 1.02% or 0.29 points to 28.27.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 77 to 57 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.23% or 3.05 to $1332.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.85% or 0.39 to hit $45.55 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.49% or 0.23 to trade at $46.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.59% to 1.1011, while EUR/GBP rose 0.55% to 0.8400.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.59% at 97.13.
