Investing.com – Turkey equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Transport, Basic Metals and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 added 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Ege Endustri (IS:EGEEN), which rose 9.97% or 22.30 points to trade at 245.90 at the close. Alarko Gmyo (IS:ALGYO) added 3.79% or 1.42 points to end at 38.90 and Turk Hava Yollari (IS:THYAO) was up 2.90% or 0.140 points to 4.960 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ihlas Holding (IS:IHLAS), which lost 6.67% or 0.020 points to trade at 0.280 in late trade. Hurriyet Gzt. (IS:HURGZ) declined 3.80% or 0.030 points to end at 0.760 and Dogan Holding (IS:DOHOL) shed 2.47% or 0.020 points to 0.790.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 189 to 144 and 74 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 1.49% or 17.35 to $1182.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.11% or 0.06 to hit $53.32 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.16% or 0.09 to trade at $56.55 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 1.10% to 3.6090, while EUR/TRY rose 2.16% to 3.8290.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.06% at 101.40.
