Baseball games on Wednesday:

Yankees 4, Orioles 3
First baseman Mark Teixeira and designated hitter Alex
Rodriguez homered to lead the New York Yankees to a 4-3 victory
over the Baltimore Orioles.
Teixeira hit his 24th home run of the season in the first
inning off Baltimore right-hander Kevin Gausman (1-2) and
Rodriguez hit his 20th in the fifth, also off Gausman.
First baseman Ryan Flaherty hit a two-run homer and right
fielder Chris Davis had a solo home run for Baltimore.

Dodgers 3, Braves 1
Mike Bolsinger allowed just three hits and an unearned run
over seven innings as the Dodgers completed a 3-1 victory over
the Atlanta Braves.
Bolsinger (5-3) did not allow a hit after the third inning
and retired 14 batters in a row before a walk broke the streak
with two outs in the seventh inning.

Reds 9, Cubs 1 (first game)
Joey Votto homered and Mike Leake allowed one run and four
hits in eight innings to lift the Cincinnati Reds to a 9-1
victory over the Chicago Cubs in the first game of a
doubleheader.
Leake (8-5) retired the final 16 batters he faced, giving
Cincinnati just what they needed after five relievers worked
7-1/3 innings on Tuesday in a 13-inning loss.

Cubs 6, Reds 5 (second game)
Pinch-hitter Taylor Teagarden's RBI single off Cincinnati
Reds closer Aroldis Chapman lifted the Chicago Cubs to a 6-5
victory in the second game of a doubleheader.
Hector Rondon (4-2) picked up the victory for Chicago.

Nationals 4, Mets 3
Third baseman Danny Espinosa hit a two-out double to drive
in Michael Taylor during a three-run eighth as the Washington
Nationals came back to beat the New York Mets 4-3.
Center fielder Taylor had a two-run, two-out single in the
eighth off reliever Bobby Parnell to tie the game at 3-3 before
Espinosa then came through with the game-winner.
Matt Thornton (1-0), who pitched a scoreless eighth got the
win, while Drew Storen got his 29th save with a perfect ninth.

Indians 7, Brewers 5
Center fielder Michael Brantley had four hits, including a
three-run home run, while the Cleveland Indians' bullpen allowed
only one run over the final 6-1/3 innings in a 7-5 victory over
the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Indians' relievers covered a short outing by
right-hander Cody Anderson, who surrendered four runs on 10 hits
in 2-2/3 innings.
Brewers first baseman Adam Lind finished with four hits and
four RBIs, including a two-run home run in the first inning.

Phillies 5, Rays 4 (10 innings)
Pinch hitter Odubel Herrera laced an RBI single in the 10th
inning as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Tampa Bay Rays.
Closer Jonathan Papelbon (2-1) tossed two scoreless innings
for the win.

Giants 7, Padres 1
Buster Posey lined a two-run double to right field in the
seventh inning to propel the San Francisco Giants to a 7-1
victory over the San Diego Padres.
The Padres led 1-0 after five innings before San Francisco
tied the game on Brandon Belt's homer in the sixth and scored
three runs in both the seventh and eighth innings.
Giants pitcher Matt Cain allowed one run, a homer by second
baseman Jedd Gyorko in the second inning, on five hits and a
walk over six innings. He struck out six.

Rangers 10, Rockies 8
The Texas Rangers blew an early five-run lead but beat the
Colorado Rockies 10-8 when Elvis Andrus drove in two runs in the
ninth.
The Rockies, who fell behind 5-0 in the second, tied the
game at 8-8 with a four-run eighth.

Tigers 9, Mariners 4
Nick Castellanos' grand slam highlighted an eight-run,
third-inning outburst as the Detroit Tigers overcame two Nelson
Cruz home runs in a 9-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners.
Castellanos' eighth home run of the season helped Anibal
Sanchez (10-7) win his seventh consecutive decision.
Sanchez allowed four runs and nine hits in 6-2/3 innings
while striking out six. Joakim Soria got the last four outs for
his 22nd save.

Astros 4, Red Sox 2
Rookie left fielder Preston Tucker socked two home runs to
help the Houston Astros to a 4-2 win over the Boston Red Sox.
Tucker slugged his seventh and eighth home runs of the
season and provided the Astros (53-43) with a four-run lead
through five innings. He finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs in the
first multi-homer game of his career.

Royals 5, Pirates 1
Mike Moustakas and Eric Hosmer homered to lift the Kansas
City Royals to a 5-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Royals scored four runs in the seventh, highlighted by
third baseman Moustakas' three-run homer with two out.
Edinson Volquez (9-5) claimed the victory, holding the
Pirates to a run over 7-2/3 innings. He struck out eight and
yielded eight hits.

Cardinals 3, White Sox 2
Catcher Yadier Molina's bases-clearing triple in the eighth
inning helped lift the St. Louis Cardinals to a 3-2 victory over
the Chicago White Sox.
Molina's liner to the right-field corner off closer David
Robertson drove home center fielder Randal Grichuk, pinch runner
Pete Kozma and right fielder Jason Heyward.

Marlins 5, Diamondbacks 3
Right-hander Jose Fernandez struck out a season-high 11 in
seven innings, doubled in a run and scored another in the Miami
Marlins' 5-3 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Fernandez (3-0) gave up five hits and walked two in his
fourth start since returning from Tommy John surgery.

Angels 5, Twins 2
Johnny Giavotella and Kole Calhoun combined for six of the
Angels' 12 hits to lead Los Angeles to a 5-2 win over the
Minnesota Twins.
Los Angeles starter C.J. Wilson (8-7) gave up two runs on
six hits and two walks before four relivers combined to shut out
the Twins on three hits over the final four innings.

Athletics 4, Blue Jays 3 (10 innings)
Pinch-hitter Ike Davis' infield single with two outs in the
10th inning scored Josh Reddick from third base to give the
Oakland Athletics a 4-3 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.
