Proactive Investors - Anthropic has launched its latest AI model Claude 3.5 Sonnet, an update to its Claude 3 model released in March, which it claims outperforms competitor models such as OpenAI's GPT-4o or Google's Gemini a wide range of tasks.
The company said Thursday Claude 3.5 Sonnet is “exceptional” at writing high-quality content with a natural, relatable tone, showing a “marked improvement in grasping nuance, humor, and complex instructions.”
Anthropic said Claude 3.5 Sonnett operates at twice the speed of its previous model Claude 3 Opus.
In an internal agentic coding evaluation, it said Claude 3.5 Sonnet solved 64% of problems, outperforming Claude 3 Opus which solved 38%.
The company also noted Claude 3.5 Sonnett has its strongest vision model to date, allowing it to accurately transcribe text from imperfect images.
“This is exciting because this is now, based on our evaluations and benchmarks, the best and most intelligent model in the industry,” Anthropic co-founder and president Daniela Amodei said in an interview, as reported by BNN Bloomberg.
“We are aiming for this to be the model of choice for enterprise businesses across the stack.”
The new model is available for free on mobile and desktop to a certain limit and paying Claude subscribers can access it more frequently.
Anthropic said it will be releasing additional models to complete the Claude 3.5 model family later this year, Claude 3.5 Haiku and Claude 3.5 Opus.
The AI startup was founded in 2021 by a collective of former OpenAI employees and is competing with OpenAI, Google parent Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL), Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and other AI developers to build out its enterprise offering.
