Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Chemicals and Beverage sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.78%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ackermans V.Haaren (BRU:ACKB), which rose 0.93% or 1.30 points to trade at 141.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Befimmo-Sicafi (BRU:BEFBb) added 0.45% or 0.260 points to end at 57.940 and Elia (BRU:ELI) was up 0.45% or 0.170 points to 38.225 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Umicore NV (BRU:UMI), which fell 3.20% or 1.30 points to trade at 39.28 at the close. DIeteren SA (BRU:IETB) declined 2.43% or 0.805 points to end at 32.370 and Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL) was down 1.97% or 0.32 points to 15.66.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 95 to 73 and 9 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ackermans V.Haaren (BRU:ACKB) rose to all time highs; gaining 0.93% or 1.30 to 141.35.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.90% or 9.90 to $1084.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.80% or 0.39 to hit $48.06 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.38% or 0.77 to trade at $54.51 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.10% to 1.0974, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.7077.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 97.40.
