Dec 18 (Reuters) - Tauron Polska Energia SA TPE.WA
* Poland's second biggest state-run power producer Tauron is
ready for potential consolidation of the industry and may play a
significant role in the process, the firm's chief executive
officer Remigiusz Nowakowski said on Friday.
* Nowakowski, who was appointed Tauron's CEO earlier this
month, said in an online chat with investors that there is room
for future industry consolidation.
* Earlier this year the outgoing government considered
merging some of Poland's power firms - PGE PGE.WA , Tauron
TPE.WA , Enea ENAE.WA and Energa ENGP.WA but said it needed
to focus on coal mines' restructuring first.
