Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Energy, IT and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 0.55% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Aurora Cannabis Inc (TO:ACB), which rose 5.35% or 0.650 points to trade at 12.810 at the close. Torex Gold Resources Inc (TO:TXG) added 3.66% or 0.420 points to end at 11.900 and Boyd Group Income Fund (TO:BYD_u) was up 3.23% or 4.07 points to 130.04 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ensign Energy Services Inc (TO:ESI), which lost 8.03% or 0.51 points to trade at 5.84 in late trade. Martinrea International Inc . (TO:MRE) declined 4.75% or 0.65 points to end at 13.02 and New Gold Inc (TO:NGD) shed 4.72% or 0.050 points to 1.010.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 706 to 366 and 154 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 1.96% to 14.04.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.52% or 6.20 to $1207.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.07% or 0.05 to hit $74.38 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.52% or 0.44 to trade at $84.14 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.22% to 0.7721, while CAD/EUR fell 0.28% to 0.6702.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 95.31.
