May 10 (Reuters) - Futures for Canada's main stock index were little changed on Friday, as investors pinned their hopes on a trade deal between the United States and China, even as another round of U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods took effect.
Chinese Vice Premier Liu He, U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin talked for 90 minutes on Thursday and were expected to resume efforts on Friday to rescue a deal that could end a 10-month long trade war between the world's two largest economies. futures on the S&P/TSX index SXFc1 were down 0.01% at 7:00 a.m. ET.
Canada's building permits data for March and employment change numbers for April are due at 8:30 a.m. ET.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX .GSPTSE fell 75.65 points, or 0.46%, to 16,321.75 on Thursday. Jones Industrial Average e-mini futures 1YMc1 were down 0.14% at 7:00 a.m. ET, while S&P 500 e-mini futures ESc1 were down 0.24% and Nasdaq 100 e-mini futures NQc1 edged down 0.15%. .N
