August 2 (Reuters) - Stock futures pointed to a lower opening for Canada's main stock index on Friday after U.S. President Donald Trump rattled global markets with fresh tariff threats on China.
China said it would not be blackmailed and warned of retaliation after Trump vowed to slap a 10% tariff on $300 billion worth of Chinese imports from next month, sharply escalating a trade row between the world's biggest economies. futures on the S&P/TSX index SXFc1 were down 0.32% at 7:00 a.m. ET.
Canada's trade data is due at 8:30 a.m. ET
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX .GSPTSE fell 29.52 points, or 0.18%, on Thursday to 16,377.04. markets are closed on Aug.5 for Civic Holiday.
Dow Jones Industrial Average e-mini futures 1YMc1 were down 0.23% at 7:00 a.m. ET, while S&P 500 e-mini futures ESc1 were down 0.35% and Nasdaq 100 e-mini futures NQc1 were down 0.63%. .N
