May 4 (Reuters) - Futures for Canada's main stock index edged lower on Friday, tracking gold prices and ahead of the closely watched U.S. jobs data.
U.S. job growth likely accelerated in April after a weather-related slowdown in the previous month, with the unemployment rate expected to drop to near a 17-1/2-year low of 4.0 percent. futures on the S&P TSX index SXFc1 were down 0.05 percent at 7:15 a.m. ET.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX fell 6.46 points, or 0.04 percent, on Thursday, to 15621.47. Jones Industrial Average e-mini futures 1YMc1 were down 0.19 percent at 7:15 a.m. ET, while S&P 500 e-mini futures ESc1 were down 0.22 percent and Nasdaq 100 e-mini futures NQc1 were down 0.23 percent. .N
