Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) said in a filing that Sheryl Sandberg, the former COO at the company, informed it that she will not seek re-election to the company's Board of Directors at the 2024 Annual Meeting of Shareholders.
Despite her decision not to stand for re-election, Ms. Sandberg will continue to serve as a director until the date of the Annual Meeting.
"Meta business is strong and well-positioned for the future, so this feels like the right time to step away," Sandberg said in the post on Facebook.
Sandberg spent 12 years on Meta’s board and was considered to be one of the influential people at the social media giant.
