Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Oil & Gas and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.61% to hit a new 3-month high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 2.92% or 0.161 points to trade at 5.670 at the close. Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) added 2.43% or 2.33 points to end at 98.22 and Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) was up 2.29% or 1.09 points to 48.61 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which lost 0.61% or 0.09 points to trade at 14.67 in late trade. Technip (PA:TECF) declined 0.30% or 0.16 points to end at 52.89 and Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI) shed 0.21% or 0.25 points to 116.75.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Iliad (PA:ILD) which rose 3.67% to 192.00, Television Francaise 1 SA (PA:TFFP) which was up 3.66% to settle at 9.128 and Casino Guichard (PA:CASP) which gained 3.41% to close at 46.74.
The worst performers were Spie SA (PA:SPIE) which was down 1.79% to 17.035 in late trade, Innate Pharma (PA:IPH) which lost 1.27% to settle at 10.900 and Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which was down 1.26% to 5.015 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 402 to 250 and 105 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 2.94% to 17.59.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.47% or 6.40 to $1347.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.36% or 0.61 to hit $45.44 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.44% or 0.68 to trade at $47.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.22% to 1.1230, while EUR/GBP rose 0.63% to 0.8429.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 95.03.
