Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Utilities, Retail and Software sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.31%, while the MDAX index gained 0.20%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which rose 3.88% or 0.287 points to trade at 7.675 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) added 2.57% or 0.590 points to end at 23.525 and Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) was up 1.24% or 1.45 points to 118.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which lost 0.95% or 0.33 points to trade at 34.49 in late trade. Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) declined 0.94% or 1.00 points to end at 105.50 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) shed 0.81% or 0.550 points to 67.190.
The top performers on the MDAX were Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which rose 3.37% to 41.92, Uniper SE (DE:UN01) which was up 2.08% to settle at 16.425 and Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which gained 1.75% to close at 96.870.
The worst performers were Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which was down 1.96% to 18.990 in late trade, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which lost 1.96% to settle at 67.930 and Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which was down 1.26% to 109.700 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which rose 4.88% to 62.570, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was up 4.11% to settle at 9.851 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which gained 2.91% to close at 24.050.
The worst performers were Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was down 1.61% to 55.660 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which lost 1.27% to settle at 76.220 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 0.40% to 12.390 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 430 to 293 and 31 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.75% to 12.87.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.43% or 5.48 to $1255.92 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.35% or 0.18 to hit $51.31 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.26% or 0.14 to trade at $54.01 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.28% to 1.1206, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.8629.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 97.10.
