Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Utilities and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.49%, while the MDAX index added 1.03%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.96%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 4.47% or 0.625 points to trade at 14.615 at the close. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) added 2.72% or 0.240 points to end at 9.060 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was up 1.75% or 0.210 points to 12.220 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN), which lost 1.13% or 1.450 points to trade at 126.550 in late trade. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) declined 1.12% or 0.36 points to end at 31.91 and Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) shed 1.11% or 1.350 points to 120.650.
The top performers on the MDAX were Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which rose 7.81% to 21.190, Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which was up 3.33% to settle at 42.085 and Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXId) which gained 3.20% to close at 71.320.
The worst performers were Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which was down 2.58% to 111.400 in late trade, Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (DE:SY1G) which lost 0.84% to settle at 60.310 and Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which was down 0.72% to 11.725 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which rose 5.28% to 38.715, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was up 4.01% to settle at 25.555 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which gained 3.72% to close at 3.545.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 1.67% to 43.000 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which lost 0.31% to settle at 14.250 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was down 0.23% to 52.760 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 652 to 205 and 33 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.09% to 24.23.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.62% or 8.45 to $1358.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 3.25% or 1.54 to hit $45.89 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 3.22% or 1.57 to trade at $47.23 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.31% to 1.1065, while EUR/GBP fell 0.21% to 0.8566.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.17% at 96.29.
