Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Media and Retail sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.99%, while the MDAX index added 1.32%, and the TecDAX index added 1.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which rose 5.58% or 1.005 points to trade at 19.015 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) added 4.76% or 5.150 points to end at 113.450 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) was up 3.56% or 0.375 points to 10.905 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which lost 2.55% or 1.000 points to trade at 38.215 in late trade. Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (DE:DB1Gn) declined 0.48% or 0.350 points to end at 73.190 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) shed 0.39% or 0.330 points to 84.560.
The top performers on the MDAX were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which rose 6.62% to 26.235, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was up 6.61% to settle at 30.66 and Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which gained 4.71% to close at 24.800.
The worst performers were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 1.36% to 50.210 in late trade, Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which lost 1.28% to settle at 51.719 and Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which was down 1.02% to 93.830 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which rose 3.14% to 45.590, United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which was up 2.92% to settle at 38.285 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which gained 2.71% to close at 68.150.
The worst performers were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 3.45% to 14.000 in late trade, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which lost 2.46% to settle at 3.602 and Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which was down 2.26% to 6.613 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 670 to 248 and 27 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 11.11% to 22.01.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 1.36% or 17.90 to $1338.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $48.33 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $49.70 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.1143, while EUR/GBP rose 0.79% to 0.8400.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.26% at 95.70.
