Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Technology and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.44%, while the MDAX index declined 0.75%, and the TecDAX index fell 1.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 1.91% or 0.295 points to trade at 15.760 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) added 1.84% or 0.215 points to end at 11.870 and Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) was up 1.80% or 1.630 points to 91.940 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which lost 1.90% or 0.400 points to trade at 20.655 in late trade. Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) declined 1.64% or 1.90 points to end at 113.90 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) shed 1.49% or 1.000 points to 66.210.
The top performers on the MDAX were Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which rose 2.49% to 85.526, Deutsche Euroshop AG (DE:DEQGn) which was up 1.20% to settle at 31.600 and Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which gained 1.00% to close at 40.220.
The worst performers were K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was down 5.14% to 19.490 in late trade, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which lost 4.31% to settle at 49.12 and Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was down 4.05% to 67.810 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were S&T AG (F:SANT1) which rose 6.51% to 16.758, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was up 4.66% to settle at 42.49 and Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which gained 1.11% to close at 27.690.
The worst performers were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was down 4.48% to 70.740 in late trade, Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which lost 3.82% to settle at 10.450 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 3.67% to 132.450 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 536 to 210 and 43 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.46% to 15.18 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.35% or 4.49 to $1278.41 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.59% or 0.33 to hit $55.37 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.48% or 0.30 to trade at $61.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.01% to 1.1798, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.8959.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 93.74.
