Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Media, Utilities and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.68%, while the MDAX index lost 0.19%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG), which rose 1.10% or 0.890 points to trade at 81.680 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) added 1.05% or 0.205 points to end at 19.785 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was up 0.60% or 0.080 points to 13.480 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which lost 2.61% or 3.600 points to trade at 134.350 in late trade. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) declined 2.24% or 0.270 points to end at 11.765 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) shed 2.01% or 0.330 points to 16.055.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which rose 7.07% to 28.690, DMG Mori Seiki AG (DE:GILG) which was up 2.57% to settle at 41.345 and Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which gained 2.25% to close at 46.955.
The worst performers were Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which was down 3.93% to 10.26 in late trade, RTL Group SA (DE:RRTL) which lost 2.76% to settle at 80.610 and CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which was down 2.73% to 31.000 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which rose 2.69% to 25.35, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was up 2.63% to settle at 248.250 and Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which gained 2.44% to close at 180.600.
The worst performers were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 2.45% to 4.019 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which lost 2.37% to settle at 15.435 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was down 1.99% to 28.530 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 476 to 399 and 34 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.58% to 20.11.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.05% or 0.65 to $1217.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.97% or 0.48 to hit $49.81 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.46% or 0.23 to trade at $50.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1138, while EUR/GBP rose 0.83% to 0.7672.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 95.75.
