Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Insurance and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.82%, while the MDAX index declined 2.06%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG), which rose 0.60% or 0.510 points to trade at 85.140 at the close. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) added 0.02% or 0.01 points to end at 32.56 and SAP AG O.N. (DE:SAPG) was down 0.37% or 0.250 points to 67.010 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which lost 6.61% or 1.210 points to trade at 17.090 in late trade. Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) declined 3.63% or 1.970 points to end at 52.270 and Allianz SE VNA O.N. (DE:ALVG) shed 3.29% or 4.150 points to 122.000.
The top performers on the MDAX were Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which rose 0.04% to 11.880, Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which was unchanged 0.00% to settle at 107.750 and Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which lost 0.03% to close at 30.790.
The worst performers were Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which was down 4.88% to 25.640 in late trade, Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which lost 4.75% to settle at 22.965 and Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which was down 4.57% to 26.605 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which rose 0.58% to 5.381, Bechtle AG (DE:BC8G) which was up 0.31% to settle at 94.670 and Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which gained 0.09% to close at 23.325.
The worst performers were Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which was down 5.66% to 6.380 in late trade, Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which lost 4.77% to settle at 14.090 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 3.83% to 13.935 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 731 to 146 and 23 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 7.64% to 23.95.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 1.22% or 16.35 to $1355.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 4.45% or 2.18 to hit $46.81 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 4.13% or 2.07 to trade at $48.03 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.69% to 1.1077, while EUR/GBP rose 1.32% to 0.8502.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.60% at 96.18.
