Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Transportation & Logistics and Software sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Media, Food & Beverages and Retail sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.13%, while the MDAX index declined 0.19%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which rose 4.45% or 0.350 points to trade at 8.220 at the close. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) added 4.22% or 0.640 points to end at 15.790 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) was up 2.68% or 0.570 points to 21.845 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which lost 2.88% or 1.170 points to trade at 39.465 in late trade. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) declined 1.06% or 0.076 points to end at 7.123 and BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) shed 0.87% or 0.780 points to 88.760.
The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which rose 3.63% to 11.98, Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which was up 2.66% to settle at 83.750 and Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which gained 2.43% to close at 15.41.
The worst performers were Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was down 4.77% to 38.42 in late trade, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which lost 2.31% to settle at 68.010 and Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 1.99% to 4.58 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were S&T AG (F:SANT1) which rose 3.13% to 12.407, Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which was up 2.62% to settle at 197.75 and Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which gained 2.53% to close at 10.205.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 2.06% to 23.805 in late trade, Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which lost 1.60% to settle at 11.720 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 0.94% to 12.670 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 405 to 347 and 23 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.78% to 21.17.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.94% or 12.10 to $1282.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.60% or 0.84 to hit $51.57 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.69% or 0.93 to trade at $53.96 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.17% to 1.0713, while EUR/GBP rose 0.22% to 0.8373.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 99.67.
