Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Utilities and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 1.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr), which rose 9.76% or 0.041 points to trade at 0.461 at the close. Halcor (AT:XAKO) added 5.38% or 0.027 points to end at 0.529 and Quest Holdings (AT:IQTr) was up 4.95% or 0.330 points to 7.000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Athens Medical (AT:AMCr), which lost 7.72% or 0.047 points to trade at 0.562 in late trade. Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr) declined 5.33% or 0.0090 points to end at 0.1600 and Profile Syst (AT:PRFr) shed 2.37% or 0.012 points to 0.494.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 67 to 36 and 12 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.22% or 2.65 to $1212.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.18% or 0.62 to hit $53.37 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.94% or 0.52 to trade at $55.75 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.0753, while EUR/GBP rose 0.03% to 0.8591.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 100.08.
