Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Construction and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 1.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Elinoil Hellenic Petroleum Company SA (AT:ELIr), which rose 9.96% or 0.0690 points to trade at 0.7620 at the close. Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr) added 8.21% or 0.011 points to end at 0.145 and FHL I Kiriakidis Marbles and Granites SA (AT:KRKr) was up 7.81% or 0.200 points to 2.760 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which lost 9.40% or 0.014 points to trade at 0.135 in late trade. Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr) declined 9.09% or 0.0160 points to end at 0.1600 and Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) shed 3.12% or 0.020 points to 0.620.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 58 to 27 and 19 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 1.08% or 14.35 to $1317.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.37% or 0.17 to hit $45.62 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.62% or 0.29 to trade at $46.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.15% to 1.1005, while EUR/GBP fell 0.62% to 0.8355.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 97.20.
