Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Chemicals and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 1.61% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr), which rose 14.24% or 0.084 points to trade at 0.674 at the close. Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) added 9.04% or 0.015 points to end at 0.181 and Alpha Bank SA (AT:ACBr) was up 3.57% or 0.060 points to 1.740 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Halcor (AT:XAKO), which lost 3.15% or 0.011 points to trade at 0.338 in late trade. Autohellas (AT:AUTr) declined 1.19% or 0.15 points to end at 12.45 and Folli Follie (AT:HDFr) shed 1.17% or 0.24 points to 20.36.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 66 to 32 and 16 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.80% or 9.75 to $1207.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.97% or 0.44 to hit $44.98 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.84% or 0.39 to trade at $46.10 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.46% to 1.0575, while EUR/GBP rose 0.34% to 0.8586.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.49% at 101.49.
