Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 2.29% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which rose 11.11% or 0.021 points to trade at 0.210 at the close. National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) added 9.52% or 0.02 points to end at 0.23 and Public Power (AT:DEHr) was up 7.52% or 0.23 points to 3.29 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bank of Cyprus PCL (AT:BOCr), which lost 6.02% or 0.008 points to trade at 0.125 in late trade. Centric Hold (AT:DESr) declined 4.95% or 0.005 points to end at 0.096 and J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr) shed 3.35% or 0.015 points to 0.433.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 74 to 36 and 12 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.05% or 0.65 to $1209.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.89% or 0.43 to hit $47.81 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.25% or 0.12 to trade at $48.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.21% to 1.0609, while EUR/GBP rose 0.32% to 0.8534.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.22% at 101.16.
