Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Healthcare and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.18%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which rose 3.17% or 11.95 points to trade at 388.80 at the close. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) added 2.89% or 63.15 points to end at 2250.30 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) was up 1.85% or 68.85 points to 3790.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC), which lost 2.26% or 13.55 points to trade at 588.65 in late trade. UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) declined 2.09% or 14.90 points to end at 699.30 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) shed 2.02% or 18.75 points to 911.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 3.19% to 388.75, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 1.29% to settle at 535.00 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which gained 0.90% to close at 2081.45.
The worst performers were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 1.79% to 588.75 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 1.21% to settle at 196.10 and Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was down 0.72% to 287.80 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 940 to 670 and 50 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1474 rose and 1133 declined, while 129 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.80% to 13.1800.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.29% or 3.80 to $1298.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.22% or 0.80 to hit $64.94 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.07% or 0.82 to trade at $75.64 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.13% to 67.425, while EUR/INR fell 0.07% to 79.4226.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 93.65.
