Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Banking and Metals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 1.02% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 1.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which rose 8.43% or 41.90 points to trade at 539.10 at the close. State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) added 4.59% or 14.05 points to end at 319.85 and ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) was up 4.43% or 13.30 points to 313.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which lost 4.04% or 1303.60 points to trade at 30929.80 in late trade. Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) declined 3.53% or 15.60 points to end at 426.55 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) shed 3.01% or 73.15 points to 2355.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 8.19% to 538.40, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 4.58% to settle at 319.80 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which gained 4.42% to close at 313.20.
The worst performers were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 2.90% to 2360.90 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 1.06% to settle at 210.50 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 0.89% to 548.45 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 872 to 720 and 15 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1484 rose and 1252 declined, while 156 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.43% to 12.1375.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.76% or 9.67 to $1280.17 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.25% or 0.68 to hit $55.06 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.21% or 0.74 to trade at $61.68 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.19% to 64.585, while EUR/INR fell 0.30% to 75.1820.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 94.51.
