Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Power and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 2.33%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 2.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which rose 0.99% or 6.05 points to trade at 619.45 at the close. HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) added 0.64% or 6.35 points to end at 990.90 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) was up 0.46% or 14.40 points to 3153.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which lost 5.58% or 96.55 points to trade at 1628.90 in late trade. Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) declined 5.21% or 177.95 points to end at 3241.30 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) shed 5.77% or 253.45 points to 4179.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 0.33% to 3149.15, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was up 0.10% to settle at 1372.70 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which gained 0.05% to close at 301.40.
The worst performers were Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was down 4.90% to 3242.60 in late trade, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which lost 4.62% to settle at 417.80 and Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which was down 4.35% to 465.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1549 to 77 and 14 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2471 fell and 281 advanced, while 116 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 8.10% to 15.2500.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.04% or 0.60 to $1347.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.09% or 0.06 to hit $65.86 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.16% or 0.11 to trade at $69.54 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.31% to 64.085, while EUR/INR fell 0.15% to 79.9264.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 88.72.
