Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Chemicals, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 gained 0.31% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (MI:FCHA), which rose 6.97% or 0.645 points to trade at 9.900 at the close. Exor NV (MI:EXOR) added 3.46% or 1.45 points to end at 43.34 and Banco Bpm (MI:BAMI) was up 2.76% or 0.078 points to 2.900 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Saipem (MI:SPMI), which lost 1.88% or 0.0105 points to trade at 0.5475 in late trade. STMicroelectronics (MI:STM) declined 1.83% or 0.190 points to end at 10.210 and Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MI:EMII) shed 1.49% or 0.080 points to 5.300.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 182 to 132 and 24 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.61% or 0.33 to $54.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.40% or 0.23 to hit $57.12 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.67% or 7.95 to trade at $1173.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.59% to 1.0541, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.8578.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.73% at 102.13.
