Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Oil & Gas and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 gained 0.82%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Mediaset (MI:MS), which rose 4.94% or 0.132 points to trade at 2.802 at the close. Azimut Holding (MI:AZMT) added 3.63% or 0.50 points to end at 14.29 and STMicroelectronics (MI:STM) was up 3.21% or 0.210 points to 6.760 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which lost 2.00% or 0.0048 points to trade at 0.2350 in late trade. Banca Popolare Milano (MI:PMII) declined 0.73% or 0.0027 points to end at 0.3669 and Mediobanca (MI:MDBI) shed 0.40% or 0.025 points to 6.290.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 234 to 136 and 28 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 2.78% or 1.30 to $48.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.83% or 0.91 to hit $50.76 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.53% or 7.15 to trade at $1355.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.41% to 1.1336, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.8623.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.45% at 94.26.
