Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Chemicals and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 declined 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Saipem (MI:SPMI), which rose 7.62% or 0.0362 points to trade at 0.5115 at the close. Telecom Italia (MI:TLIT) added 4.29% or 0.0340 points to end at 0.8265 and Salvatore Ferragamo (MI:SFER) was up 3.45% or 0.75 points to 22.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which lost 9.87% or 2.0400 points to trade at 18.6200 in late trade. FinecoBank Banca Fineco SpA (MI:FBK) declined 3.17% or 0.17 points to end at 5.34 and Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MI:EMII) shed 3.06% or 0.152 points to 4.812.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 190 to 156 and 8 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.42% or 0.22 to $53.17 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.09% or 0.05 to hit $55.16 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.37% or 4.25 to trade at $1141.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.0441, while EUR/GBP rose 0.55% to 0.8412.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 102.76.
