Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Rubber, Services and Fishery sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (T:5541), which rose 5.57% or 22.0 points to trade at 417.0 at the close. Bridgestone Corp. (T:5108) added 5.42% or 234.0 points to end at 4549.0 and The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. (T:5101) was up 3.98% or 84.0 points to 2196.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Amada Co., Ltd. (T:6113), which lost 2.02% or 26.0 points to trade at 1264.0 in late trade. Rakuten Inc (T:4755) declined 2.00% or 21.0 points to end at 1028.0 and Astellas Pharma Inc. (T:4503) shed 1.89% or 29.2 points to 1513.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1799 to 1204 and 343 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.17% to 17.37.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.30% or 0.16 to $53.94 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.30% or 0.17 to hit $55.98 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.34% or 4.25 to trade at $1234.85 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.27% to 113.15, while EUR/JPY rose 0.28% to 120.08.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 100.92.
