Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Precision Instruments, Electrical/Machinery and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Minebea Mitsumi Inc (TYO:6479), which rose 3.40% or 84.50 points to trade at 2,567.00 at the close. Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (TYO:6976) added 3.21% or 137.00 points to end at 4,407.00 and Advantest Corp. (TYO:6857) was up 1.72% or 275.00 points to 16,230.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kansai Electric Power Co Inc (TYO:9503), which lost 4.33% or 101.50 points to trade at 2,242.50 in late trade. Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (TYO:4506) declined 4.16% or 23.00 points to end at 529.50 and Inpex Corp. (TYO:1605) shed 3.88% or 91.50 points to 2,266.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2766 to 911 and 187 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 5.82% to 16.92.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 1.08% or 0.98 to $89.50 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 1.09% or 1.03 to hit $93.31 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.19% or 3.75 to trade at $1,949.95 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.14% to 148.06, while EUR/JPY rose 0.20% to 158.21.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 104.85.
