Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Glass and Shipbuilding sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (T:1332), which rose 10.00% or 54.0 points to trade at 594.0 at the close. Nisshin Seifun Group Inc. (T:2002) added 7.54% or 131.0 points to end at 1869.0 and Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T:4911) was up 6.99% or 227.0 points to 3473.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Isuzu Motors, Ltd. (T:7202), which lost 8.08% or 125.5 points to trade at 1428.5 in late trade. Meidensha Corp. (T:6508) declined 7.00% or 29.0 points to end at 385.0 and NTN Corp. (T:6472) shed 6.17% or 36.0 points to 547.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1712 to 1399 and 271 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 1.39% to 14.55.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 2.59% or 1.24 to $49.08 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 2.52% or 1.28 to hit $52.12 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.15% or 1.83 to trade at $1229.53 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.27% to 113.69, while EUR/JPY rose 0.48% to 124.44.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 98.95.
