Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 6.90% or 0.28 points to trade at 4.33 at the close. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) added 2.33% or 0.35 points to end at 15.40 and KPN Kon (AS:KPN) was up 2.15% or 0.075 points to 3.571 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NN Group (AS:NN), which lost 5.69% or 1.73 points to trade at 28.70 in late trade. SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) declined 1.55% or 0.17 points to end at 10.79 and Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN) shed 0.58% or 0.20 points to 33.66.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 100 to 59 and 13 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.83% to 18.69 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.02% or 0.01 to $49.55 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $49.76 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.31% or 3.85 to trade at $1219.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.1172, while EUR/GBP rose 0.49% to 0.7628.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 95.30.
