Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.53% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 2.52% or 0.12 points to trade at 4.84 at the close. Aalberts Industries (AS:AALB) added 2.14% or 0.62 points to end at 29.77 and Philips Kon (AS:PHG) was up 2.02% or 0.48 points to 24.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gemalto (AS:GTO), which lost 1.99% or 1.30 points to trade at 64.01 in late trade. Heineken (AS:HEIN) declined 0.67% or 0.52 points to end at 77.51 and ING Groep NV (AS:ING) shed 0.34% or 0.040 points to 11.770.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 110 to 56 and 17 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 3.33% to 21.23 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 3.38% or 1.30 to $37.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.98% or 0.80 to hit $39.59 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 1.20% or 15.10 to trade at $1244.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.48% to 1.1094, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.7750.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.41% at 96.62.
