Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Basic Materials and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN), which rose 1.85% or 0.61 points to trade at 33.59 at the close. Aegon (AS:AEGN) added 1.61% or 0.061 points to end at 3.851 and Philips Kon (AS:PHG) was up 1.50% or 0.37 points to 24.97 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 3.47% or 0.205 points to trade at 5.695 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 2.30% or 1.130 points to end at 47.970 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) shed 1.08% or 0.64 points to 58.67.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 87 to 74 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 4.33% to 16.87.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.75% or 0.75 to $42.02 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.51% or 0.68 to hit $44.30 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.37% or 5.05 to trade at $1351.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.52% to 1.1173, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.8588.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.48% at 95.60.
