Investing.com – Poland equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Energy and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 declined 1.22% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were CCC SA (WA:CCCP), which rose 2.35% or 3.90 points to trade at 169.90 at the close. Eurocash SA (WA:EUR) added 1.94% or 0.94 points to end at 49.35 and Globe Trade Centre SA (WA:GTCP) was up 1.45% or 0.10 points to 7.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW), which lost 13.18% or 2.63 points to trade at 17.32 in late trade. Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) declined 4.21% or 0.12 points to end at 2.73 and KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGH) shed 3.03% or 2.03 points to 64.94.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 280 to 220 and 177 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 2.30% or 1.00 to $44.44 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 3.60% or 1.57 to hit $45.20 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.42% or 5.35 to trade at $1261.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.20% to 4.4238, while USD/PLN fell 0.19% to 3.8861.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 94.19.
