Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Utilities, Telecoms and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 added 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which rose 8.61% or 0.0230 points to trade at 0.2900 at the close. Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) added 5.53% or 0.1410 points to end at 2.6910 and REN (LS:RENE) was up 3.64% or 0.1030 points to 2.9350 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Montepio (LS:MPIO), which lost 5.95% or 0.037 points to trade at 0.585 in late trade. Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) declined 1.23% or 0.0029 points to end at 0.2335 and Sonae (LS:YSO) shed 0.11% or 0.0010 points to 0.9160.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 30 to 9 and 5 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for August delivery was up 0.67% or 0.33 to $49.80 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.03% or 0.49 to hit $47.89 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.98% or 12.55 to trade at $1295.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.1269, while EUR/GBP rose 0.31% to 0.8747.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 96.58.
