Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Power, Mining and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia added 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were NPK OVK PAO (MCX:UWGN), which rose 3.22% or 23.5 points to trade at 753.0 at the close. ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) added 3.10% or 2.750 points to end at 91.500 and NK RussNeft PAO (MCX:RNFT) was up 2.79% or 15.5 points to 570.5 in late trade.
Biggest losers included United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL), which lost 2.51% or 0.640 points to trade at 24.900 in late trade. MMK (MCX:MAGN) declined 1.35% or 0.605 points to end at 44.195 and NK Rosneft PAO (MCX:ROSN) shed 1.28% or 5.05 points to 389.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 108 to 103 and 24 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 0.48% to 21.100.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $1290.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.43% or 0.31 to hit $71.00 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.06% or 0.05 to trade at $78.38 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.02% to 61.6938, while EUR/RUB fell 1.38% to 72.7892.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 93.27.
