Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Yevroplan PAO (MCX:EPLN), which rose 7.56% or 48.5 points to trade at 690.0 at the close. MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON) added 3.96% or 24.00 points to end at 629.70 and GidroOGK-011D (MCX:HYDR) was up 3.76% or 0.0308 points to 0.8500 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS), which lost 1.95% or 1.630 points to trade at 81.760 in late trade. Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX) declined 1.84% or 2.16 points to end at 114.94 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) shed 1.82% or 12.00 points to 647.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 114 to 102 and 26 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 3.63% to 16.860 a new all time low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.11% or 1.43 to $1289.23 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.59% or 0.83 to hit $51.31 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.42% or 0.82 to trade at $56.75 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.21% to 58.0763, while EUR/RUB rose 0.07% to 68.4138.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 93.03.
