Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Power and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 0.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Verhnesald MPO (MCX:VSMO), which rose 3.69% or 510.0 points to trade at 14340.0 at the close. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) added 2.41% or 2.75 points to end at 117.00 and Magnit (MCX:MGNT) was up 1.78% or 189.0 points to 10789.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR), which lost 3.11% or 27 points to trade at 842 in late trade. Niznekamskneftekhim ao (MCX:NKNC) declined 2.81% or 1.900 points to end at 65.800 and Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) shed 2.04% or 28.50 points to 1370.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 122 to 121 and 16 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.32% to 25.250.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.17% or 2.25 to $1343.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 3.46% or 1.54 to hit $46.02 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 3.12% or 1.45 to trade at $47.93 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.34% to 63.8326, while EUR/RUB fell 0.11% to 71.839.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 95.20.
